About Advocating Hope

Honoring Your Courage

Everyone at sometime in their life faces unexpected stress and sometimes life changing events. This can feel incredibly lonely and isolating. We don’t always have the resources or coping skills to manage what life throws at us and sometimes the coping skills we have used in the past are not working now or are adding to our struggles.

It is in these times that it can become difficult to reach out to those who have been closest to us. We may feel that talking about our struggles will damage our relationships or that we will walk away feeling judged and further alone. It is in these moments that seeking out support from a professional who is compassionate and impartial makes sense.

I would like to honour you for your courage in seeking out a psychotherapist. Courage is “the ability to do something that frightens one” or “strength in the face of pain.”

“Courage doesn’t happen when you have all the answers. It happens when you are ready to face the questions you have been avoiding your whole life.”
Shannon L. Alder

Professional Assurance

I am here because I would like to be that resource that you seek in your current struggles. I have devoted 20 plus years of my career supporting others in developing their own mental-wellness and fostering hope in the face of hardship. I have supported adults in hospital based out patient mental health programs within my role as a psychotherapist and children in several school districts as a School Board Counsellor.

My approach in psychotherapy is based on your needs, struggles and stressors. I do not simply offer one method of treatment for all problems. I have completed training for a variety of styles of treatment, including Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, ,Narrative and Interpersonal Therapy . Together we would explore your needs to embark on a healing journey of personal growth and improved mental-wellness.

In my clinical practice I have supported individuals, couples and groups with issues such as grief, adjustment to the ending or beginning of an intimate relationship, stress at the job, feeling judged by those closest to them, struggles in communicating and resolving conflicts, abuse, managing intense emotions, and so on.

Clinical Supervision

As for my fellow psychotherapists, I have supported Masters of Social Work and Psychotherapy candidates over the years. I am offering Clinical Supervision to those who require the clinical hours to meet the mandate of their professional colleges or supervision for those in private practice.

You are warmly welcomed...
